Your local electric scooter shop for Newtownards

Newtownards is flat and coastal at the head of Strangford Lough, and that sea air means brakes and bearings want checking more often than inland — which is where having a workshop behind you helps. A privately owned e-scooter is private-land-only in Northern Ireland, with permission from the landowner. Gorilla Karts delivers across Ards and North Down to every BT23 postcode in 1–2 days, with hands-on warranty and repairs from our real Cookstown workshop.

Riding legally

Where you can ride in Newtownards

The honest answer for Newtownards riders, and the rule that catches most people out.
Private land, with permissionThe one place a privately owned electric scooter can legally be used in Northern Ireland. Your own garden, yard or driveway counts, as does any private ground where the owner has said yes.
Not roads or pavementsNorthern Ireland law treats them as motor vehicles, and they cannot currently be registered, taxed or insured for road use here — so public roads and footpaths are out.
Not public parks or greenwaysCouncil parks, towpaths and greenways around Newtownards are public land. The rental trials running in parts of Great Britain have never applied in Northern Ireland.
Ask first, ride secondPermission from whoever owns the ground is what makes riding legal. Get it before you set off, and keep to a sensible speed for who else is about.

We would rather tell you this before you buy than after. Read the full Northern Ireland e-scooter law guide — it covers what the law says, what is changing, and what it means if you are buying for a child.
